Christmas Pact

by Saundra Staats McLemore

Carrie Emeline has a loving and trusting heart. Is it a blessing or a curse? Innocent and naive Carrie Emeline meets the man who can help her conquer her dilemmas…or can he? Following the marriage, she discovers she’s been deceived by her husband who deliberately wheedled himself into her life and her heart with an unthinkable lie.

I’ve read Saundra’s other books set around her fictionalized Christmas Hotel in Franklin, Kentucky (a setting which I love by the way). Each book in the series conquers a difficult subject solving the issues with a Christian perspective. Christmas Pact, book number four in the Christmas Hotel Series, is no exception.  In Christmas Pact you have a couple who are unequally yoked by their differences in faith, yet they find common ground in love, until the horrible disease of PTSD begins to tear the family apart.

Of all McLemore’s books, Christmas Pact is my favorite. The book has a solid story about true love, deception, a man suffering from PTDS after WWII, the effect it has on his life and his family, and forgiveness all woven in a story that kept my interest from page one. The story has plot complexity and characters you will root for. It also has a fantastic cover, which I believe has won a well-deserved award.  For those who don’t know, the soldier’s uniform in the book cover belonged to someone in Saundra’s family. How cool is that?

Well done, Saundra!

Four stars for Christmas Pact!

I was given this book in exchange for an honest review.
